Happy Birthday Bruce!

Even though Bruce's birthday was last Monday, we celebrated on Saturday with Sara, Scott and of course Peyton. Bruce got a new cordless saw, so I'm sure we'll see some awsome new woodworking projects! He has a remarkable gift in that area. It was a beautiful afternoon, high 70's and sunny (of course it's sunny, it's Arizona!!). "Papa" had put up a new swing for Peyton and he loved it. Swinging is one of his favorite things right now. After a steak dinner, the birthday boy had a German Chocolate Cake, his favorite. Being, "Papa's" boy, Peyton loved it too. He dove in to his piece with two hands. He went straight to the bathtub after finishing his piece! Happy Birthday to my wonderful hubby!!!

Quilt Camp

I just got home from "Pines and Needles", a bed and breakfast for quilters, in Christopher Creek. Don't know if you can imagine 10 women talking and laughing while 10 sewing machines are whirring non-stop! We had a great time, ate a lot of great food (thanks to Kim our excellent hostess), laughed a Whole lot and slept a little. The productivity was amazing, and I got some fun pictures of our weekend.

Jodi was the most productive of us all. I think she finished four tops and started on another.

Sassy Kathy (she's the shy one of the group) finished her king size top and was putting the blocks in place before sewing them.

This is a picture of the whole group with a few of the quilts on the fence. It was awsome up in the mountains, cool, crisp nights and warm sunny days. Perfect for a walk in the pines.

I even finished the top of this king size quilt I'd been working on. I'm hoping to get the back put together and get it to Jodi for quilting this week. Can't wait until the next time I go to camp!

Wild Weekend on it's Way

Okay, I'm off for my "wild" girls weekend at QUILT CAMP!! 10 of us go to a retreat where we are fed well and given lots of space, tables and electrical outlets, where we quilt ourselves silly for 3 days. Now for those of you who have trouble visualizing this as a wild and crazy time, imagine 10 middle aged women drinking lots of diet coke, staying up late, sitting in front of sewing machines and talking about crazy things like "walking feet" and the latest fabrics. Ahh, makes you green with envy doesn't it? Well, even though it's a little crazy sounding, it's my idea of a funnnn time!! See you Sunday.

Competitive Blogging Part II

OK, fair warning to my "blogging competitor" (you know who you are, your initials are SEC). I have changed the background on my blog. I did check out your blog beforehand, so I can state for certain, that I chose this background first. Let's see if you can top it!!

A Big Bunny

While Peyton napped after the park, Sara and I ran to Michael's where I found this big rabbit. It just screamed "BUY ME FOR YOUR GRANDSON", so I had to get it. Peyton was waiting at the house with his baseball hat on, and found a new friend in the bunny. Even though it is as big as he is, he carried it all over. Sara bought him some bunny ears and he decided he liked wearing them on his stomach instead of his head!

He is gorgeous, isn't he (all right, I know I biased!!)

Yep, much better place to wear them than on your head.

!

Lovin' Sunday

Most Sunday's Sara, Scott and Peyton come over for fun and dinner. Since it is so nice out right now, we thought we'd all go to the park this week. Peyton had a great time, climbing and sliding.

He started out a little cautious, and went slow.......

After a few turns down the slide, speed was his friend!

Then he realized he could hang from the bar on the canopy, that was awsome!!!....

High fives for "Papa", what a guy.

Those Darn Bears!

What a sad day for a Jayhawk fan. The Baylor Bears (not known for their basketball skills!!) beat the KU Jayhawks in the first round of the Big 12 Playoffs. My poor Jayhawks were handed an embarassing loss, so sad. However, as all us die hard fans know and believe, this doesn't mean the season is over yet, and the boys might really learn from this loss and go on to do great things. "Ya gotta have hope!!"

Competitive Blogging

Just got a phone call from Sara informing me I had "stolen" her template design, to which I promptly replied, Excuuuussseeee ME!! Well, after much discussion on who had the background first, Scott, in the background accused us of competitive blogging. So, just to show that I am truly the bigger person (after all I am the Mom and must set a good example), I gave in and redid mine (she also made a veiled threat about withholding grandson visits until said blog page was changed....gasp!!). Luv ya, Sar!!!

IT'S AN EXCELLENT DAY TO BE A JAYHAWK!!

As I'm sure you are all aware, Kansas University won the Big 12 Championship today by winning 82 to 73 over University of Texas. In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, Bill Self has taken this team further than any of us fans dreamed. Now I know not everyone reading this is a Jayhawk basketball fan, but let me tell you from experience, you are missing out on a great time!! Their colors are nice (crimson and blue), they have a great chant (famous world-wide), and they are just darn nice people (in my humble opinion). So come on, I know your dying to become as big a fan as I am, so shed your inhibitions, turn on your tv's and warm up your search engines. You too, could be saying "It's a great day to be a Jayhawk"!

Hola! We're Back!

We just got home last night from our 8 day Mexican cruise. We stopped in Acapulco, Xuatanao, and Manzanillo. We were part of a group of 18 people, a few of whom we already knew, and most of whom became friends on the trip. We spent lots of time on the beach, in the ocean, eating, drinking and having fun! I'll share some pictures, hope you don't get bored by someone else's trip pics!

Linda, looking good in the sun on the beach of Acapulco. She is a "Beach Babe"!

Bruce, John and Buff, at the top of the water slide on the ship, it's really high up there.....

and you make a BIG splash when you land! They all came up laughing. A few men were even heard to scream like a girl on their way down.

We cleaned up pretty good for our formal night.

Didn't I marry a good looking guy! It was great to get away, relax and have fun and it was great to come home. Guess I'll have to get back to reality, no more room service, people making me dinner or making my bed. That reminds me, I need to get something out of the freezer, I have to cook tonight :(
