This one's for Sara

OK, after telling you, I'd try to do something worth writing about, Sara left a comment that she hasn't seen me do anything exciting in the 28 years she's known me. Wow, I'm stunned. So, to shake things up, I decided to go to Ghana!!! Actually, I've known for quite a while that I wanted to do a medical mission, and have been looking around for the right one. I got an email on Thursday that Project CURE needs OB nurses for a mission to Ghana the end of August. I knew immediately that this was the trip for me (being geographically challenged, though, I had no idea where Ghana was). Needless to say, Bruce was a little more cautious in his approach and searched the FBI, CDC and numerous other websites to check out all the details. I prayed that if this was the right trip, God would smooth the way and open all the doors. So far, it has all been like God not only made the way straight, He made it a super highway. At work, my director and manager gave their approval easily and it all seems like a go at this point. So, put your prayer caps on, and we'll see how this all comes about. I'll keep you posted as we go through the process. Today, we will be filling out all our applications papers and getting them sent in. Check step one off the list!!

That's my Boy!

Just got some new pictures of Tyler. He went back to Kansas to visit friends, and then to a wedding in Nashville. He has had a group of friends that have all stayed close since they were in 6th grade, even though they are spread all over the U.S. The first picture is Charlie, Derek, Ryan, Tyler and Lauren, they all backpacked across Europe after senior year.

These four were the Junior High car pool.
And, here's a picture of Tyler and Tu. It was her first visit to Kansas, so Tyler got to show her where he grew up and graduated from college, before they went to the wedding.

I may be biased, but I think he's a great guy!! Love ya, T.

Such a boring girl

I realized today I've been awfully boring lately. After persuing all my friends blogs I've decided it's time to change that for sure. I've been working too much and playing too little. So look out, I intend to do something worth commenting on in the next few days, no matter what. Hmmmm, now to just think about what that is!

Swimming Lessons

Peyton started swimming lessons yesterday! Since Sara and Scott both work, Bruce and I get to take him to his lessons. He doesn't like the lessons, but in spite of the whining, his teacher, Kristi, gets him going. He has started putting his face in the water, swimming towards the wall, and the beginning steps to roll over to his back to get air. Now, let me tell you, he is not at all convinced that these are skills that are necessary for his lifestyle. He likes to tell Kristi he is "done". However, she seems to be able to let him know that he has to keep going for his entire 10 minutes.

Here he is swimming to the wall, he is starting to learn about kicking, too.

That look on his face when he's floating on his back, is NOT one of relaxation!

One more swim to the wall. It's not possible to whine while swimming!! I know I'm biased, but I think he is an awsome swimmer. And, since there was another near drowning here in Phoenix today, I'm hoping someday he'll be glad he endured this torture!!

Elmo was awsome!!

Yesterday was the big DAY. Sara and I took Peyton to "Elmo's Green Thumb". He was excited from the minute we walked in the door.

Here is is waiting for the show to begin, when he heard Big Bird make an announcement that you had to stay in your seat during the show, he was sooooo excited. He knew that voice. Then, the big moment began, the curtain went up, and from that moment on, he was glued to the stage. He was pointing out all his friends as they came on. This next picture is how he looked for almost 45 solid minutes, an amazing feat of sitting still for an almost 2 year old!

I had more fun watching him watch the show!

Here's a picture of Elmo and Zoe dancing with their friends. Easy to understand why the show held him spellbound!!

After the show, we had to make a stop at Elmo's picture to tell him just how much we loved his performance!!
